My Miracle

My miracle happened when
I was born in this world
In one disabled body
With limited world and motion
Where hardship’s a way so common.

My miracle happened when
God called out my name
To read life between the lines
To hear His voice in dire frustration
And feel with the helpless and alone.

My miracle you see
Is not in events nor happenings
That seem spectacular or grand,
It came in little, baby steps
And in the people who gets blessed…

By God’s little miracles in me:
That in my weakness He is strong
All my “walks” He carry on,
And many see Him in my frailty
Many praise Him for what I’d be.

So if only for that and no more
There’d be no chance to ever walk
It’s fine by me so long as mine’s
A life where they see God in it
With arms they know they have a friend in,
I think it’s all worth it.

CSI (Season 2) DVD Review

Nominated for 20 Emmys and 6 Golden Globes, including Best TV Series - Drama, CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) quickly rose to become the number one show on television following its Fall 2000 premiere. The brainchild of creator Anthony Zuiker, the show follows the investigations not of traditional TV detectives working the streets, but forensic scientists who unravel complicated crime mysteries in their ultra-modern laboratory. Either the #1 or the #2 Nielsen rated show since the start of its second season, CSI has helped CBS to reemerge as the #1 network television station, spawning (similar to predecessor Law & Order) two series spin-offs CSI: Miami and CSI: New York. Each exciting hour-long episode begins with the theme song “Who Are You” by The Who, a song more than befitting of a show where criminals are aggressively tracked down, sometimes years after committing their crimes…

CSI focuses on the Las Vegas Police Department’s Crime Scene Investigation nightshift unit headed by Gil Grissom (William Petersen), a quirky outsider whose obsessive quest for the facts and dedication to his work dominates his life. The CSI team is composed of a number of individuals with differing backgrounds and personalities - single mother Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) specializes in blood-splatter analysis, the highly competitive Nick Stokes (George Eads) specializes in hair and fiber analysis, recovering gambling addict Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan) specializes in audio/visual analysis, and the rambunctious Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) specializes in materials and element analysis. Throw in hard-nosed homicide captain Jim Brass (Paul Guifoyle), CSI understudy Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda), and lab coroner Al Robbins (Robert David Hall) and all the ingredients are present for a show wrought with suspense, drama, and tension. As transients from all walks of life travel to Las Vegas to enjoy the wonders of its adult playground, increased levels of crime accompany them, and the team at CSI is determined to stay a step ahead of the criminal element…

The CSI (Season 2) DVD features a number of dramatic episodes including the season premiere “Burked” in which Grissom and company are called in to investigate the death of a high roller and known drug addict found dead in his own home. With drug paraphernalia on the premises, detectives initially suspect an overdose, but further probing leads them to believe the man was restrained by duct tape and forced to ingest lethal amounts of drugs… Other notable episodes from Season 2 include “And Then There Were None” in which Grissom investigates a casino heist that left several innocent bystanders shot while Catherine and Sara investigate a murder in the rural desert region, and “Stalker” in which a stalker somehow infiltrates a heavily secured home and murders his victim, prompting the CSI to take over the investigation…

The Top Five Tips For Taking Your Digital Camera On Vacation

One of the most common places for people to use their digital camera is while they are away on vacation, and no wonder, because we all want to preserve those special events and memories as much as we can. But digital cameras require their own advance preparation for the trip. So here are the top five tips for taking your digital camera along with you on vacation.

1. More so than any other camera, digital cameras rely on a good solid power source, usually its batteries. If you haven’t used your digital camera in a while, the batteries you have may not be sufficiently charged for your entire trip. And even if your current batteries are sufficiently charged, it’s a very good idea to have extras along with you on the trip because you just don’t know how much use your camera will get and you don’t want to be caught short at the wrong time. Sometimes, batteries for certain digital cameras can be very specialized too. So it’s always a good idea to buy batteries before you leave to have them handy with you on the trip.

2. You’ll want to give attention to your storage cards before you leave as well, and be sure that you have enough for the trip. Remember, storage media is sort of like film in that if you have no way to upload the photos each day, it will eventually get full and you will need a replacement to continue shooting. Also before you leave check the storage card that you have in the camera to see what images are currently stored there. If there are photos on the card that you wish to keep, now is the time to upload them while you are still at home and then wipe the card clean for use on the vacation.

3. Taking a camera on any vacation or trip can subject it to a lot of use and getting banged around if you are not careful. So having a good camera bag to put your digital camera in while on vacation will be very important. If you have a digital SLR camera, then you may even want to take extra lenses along with you on the trip. If so, be sure that the camera bag can handle all the equipment that you need to take with you, and that it is comfortable to carry along with you each day. It’s good to have storage capacity in your camera bag for extra media cards, lens cleaner, and any other accessories that you find useful too.

4. A very useful accessory for both film and digital cameras that many people forget is a tripod or mini tripod. Handholding a camera is one of the largest reasons for blurry unfocused photos. This is a common problem with many people, and it can all be solved with the use of a tripod. Obviously, you can take a large tripod with you on some excursions as it would just be too heavy to carry, but here’s where a mini tripod can come in very handy. Many times they can fit right in your camera bag with you and be set up quickly and easily on a flat surface. The use of a good tripod is guaranteed to help you take sharper, better photos.

5. If you plan on bringing your laptop computer with you on the trip, don’t forget to bring along the necessary USB cables to connect to your camera and upload your photographs at the end of the day.

If you take just a few minutes before you leave to organize your digital camera and accessories, you can assure that you will be able to have plenty of opportunities to record the fun and good times that you will enjoy while in vacation.

MBA And Tertiary Education Programs in China

With China becoming the 6th largest economy in 2004 and likely
to rank 4th in 2005, this is likely to fuel further anxieties
over the impact of China`s rising economic might for the world
economic leaders. But for company executives and aspiring young
entrepreneurs, it has become imperative to understand China so
as to explore the increasing business opportunities in China.

One of the usual route for this is to study and build social
networks at the leading Chinese universities. Latest available
figures show that there were about 85,000 foreign students
studying in China in 2002. Almost 500 Chinese universities,
mainly in Shanghai and Bejing, accept foreign students. The top
5 universities with the largest foreign students are Beijing
Language and Culture Center, Fudan, Peking, Tsinghua and
Shanghai universities.

If you are planning to do a post-graduate MBA program while
working in China, there are many learning organizations to
choose from.

The University of Maryland`s Smith School of Business offers a
degree, custom and certification programs at learning centers
within Beijing and Shanghai. Smith`s first executive MBA program
class started in Jan 2003 and graduated in spring 2004.

The University of Wisconsin Milwaukee`s School of Business
Administration has recently launched an EMBA program in Beijing
in partnership with Motorola for staff of Motorola`s China
operations.

Together with the top-ranked Jiao Tong University in Shanghai,
the University of British Columbia is also offering an
International MBA in China. Besides having the same curriculam
as its Canadian MBA, professors from the University of British
Columbia teach all of the courses.

Another EMBA program is the Cass EMBA 2-year part-time
off-campus program by City University from Britian which has
been launched in collaboration with Bank of China and the
Shanghai University of Finance & Economics.

Britain`s Nottingham University is the first foreign university
to establish a physical campus in Ningbo in September 2004.
Nottingham Ningbo`s degree is comparable with its degree from
the British campus with all courses conducted in English.

The Chinese government is actively promoting more educational
tie-ups in China to develop university graduates who will be
better geared for the many multinational corporations operating
in China and spearhead economic growth. Currently, there are
about 700 such jointly managed educational programs in China.

With the many future and current leaders and managers in China
enrolling in the many tertiary education and post-graduate MBA
programs, it makes good career sense to take up these courses
and build a social network which will be useful for operating
within Chinese business community for the future.
